McFarland - Scott G. McKay, age 69, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 6, 2019 after a bravely fought 18-month battle with lung cancer. He was born in Madison, WI on August 27, 1949 the son of Norman A. McKay and Eleanor L. (Grimstad) McKay. On May 29, 1983 he married Donna M. Bunde at Olbrich Gardens in Madison, WI.
Scott graduated from LaFollette High School and attended U.W. Madison where he studied acting and appeared in on campus productions. He later completed a 4-year apprenticeship in bricklaying and worked with several local construction companies. The majority of his working career was in retail sales where he was employed at American T.V., Steinhafels Furniture and Slumberland Furniture, earning many sales awards over the years. In retirement Scott worked part time and pursued his hobby of photography. He and Donna also loved traveling, especially to places where they could enjoy scuba diving and snorkeling. Scott was a very dedicated member of the Monona Serenity Club and was proud to have recently earned his 30-year medallion and to have helped many others on their journey.
He is survived by his wife Donna of 36 years, brother Thomas F. McKay (Marsha), sister-in-law Susan (James) Yaeger, nieces Tammy (Mike) Tschida and Kristen McKay, grand-nephews Tyler and Christopher Tschida, grand-niece Elaina McKay and his beloved Amazon parrots Cisco & Lucy. He was preceded in death by his father Norman A. McKay, mother Eleanor L. (Grimstad) McKay, brother David J. McKay and nephew Christopher Yaeger.
A celebration of Scott's extraordinary life will be held at Olbrich Gardens on Wednesday, June 26 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. There will be a private burial at a later date.
It is suggested that memorials be made to The Ocean Conservancy, The American Cancer Society or Feathered Friends Sanctuary & Rescue in Edgerton, WI.
