MONONA - Ruth Ann (McKay) Tyson, 75, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg after a brief battle with cancer.
Ruth Ann was born in Columbus, Wis., on Nov. 7, 1942, to Ruth (Smith) McKay and Wayne McKay. Ruth Ann attended Columbus Public school graduating from Columbus High School in June 1960. Ruth Ann married Norm Hovey on June 15, 1963, the couple had two children, Deborah Jean and Daniel Joseph. She later married George Tyson on Sep. 20, 1987. Ruth Ann worked as a waitress at several establishments in Madison, Wis. She then became the chef the 7E's supper club in DeForest, Wis. and later the chef at Lewis's Prime Rib, Madison, Wis.
Ruth Ann was a gifted and talented person. She loved to express herself artistically through gardening, baking, cooking, floral arranging, crocheting and coloring. She had a special passion for planting gardens full of flowers. Ruth Ann loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved spending time with her friends and family, digging in her garden and spending time in her kitchen cooking for family.
Ruth Ann lived at Monona Meadows and was very involved in the community where she lived. She loved to bake cakes for monthly birthday celebrations, crochet blankets for Project Hands, (an organization who provides services to those in need) and planting flowers in the gardens for everyone's enjoyment. She also enjoyed coloring and had many of her pages on display at Monona Meadows Apartments.
She is survived by her children Deborah Tuck (Michael) of Madison, Wis., Daniel Hovey (Stormy) of Poynette, Wis., sister Gwen Widhalm (Don) of Denver, Colo., brother Robert (Diane) of Rio, Wis, brother Richard (Donna) Haysprings, Neb., brother Gloyd (Pat) of Pueblo West, Colo., sister Susan McKay of Florence, Colo. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Wayne McKay, mother Ruth McKay, brother Douglas McKay and niece Josie Moll.
Friends may visit the family at a Celebration of Ruth Ann's Life at Monona Meadows Apartments, 250 Femrite Drive, Monona Wis., from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017.
The family would like to thank the staff at Agrace Hospice Fitchburg for the excellent care provided to Ruth Ann and for the caring and thoughtfulness given to the family during their brief stay.
