Roderick "Dick" L. Walch, age 86, passed away on July 21st, 2022, at Agrace in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. He was born on February 18th, 1936, to Edgar and Hazel Walch. Dick was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Cone on July 4th, 1957. Dick cherished his grandchildren, Jarrett and Alison Walch, who were the loves of his life. Dick enjoyed walking his dog Duke, spending time outdoors, fishing at the family cabin in Westfield or with his friend Joel, playing cards with his friends, and being a regular at the Eagle Inn, where he enjoyed having breakfast and drinking coffee with friends at the round table of knowledge. Dick enjoyed owning and racing stock cars, cruising around in the polish dream house, and spending time at his NASCAR league. Dick was known for making his famous popcorn each week for any occasion. Before retiring, Dick enjoyed his career driving school buses, having his own tree business, and running Walch's salvage yard.
Dick is survived by his son, Edgar (Kathy); daughter, Nancy; grandchildren, Jarrett and Alison (William); sister, Edna Hart; sisters-in-law, Nancy Cone, Sue Cone; special niece, Ginger Walch; special nephew, Don Hart; many other nieces and nephews; special friend, Carol Fisher; and many other friends and pets (Ellie, Bella, and Wrigley).
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Walch; son, Dale Walch; parents, Edgar and Hazel Walch; mother- and father-in-law, Charlie and Atha Cone; brothers and sisters, Mildred Baumgarten, Sadie Priebie (Bob), Marlee Shaefer (Herb), Duanne Walch (Patricia), Edgar Jr. Walch; brother- and sister-in-laws, Catherine Cone, Barb Cone, Della Garner, Jessie Schubring (Harry), Margie Combs (AI), Al Ballweg, Marlene Sprecher, Jim Cone, Fred Cone, John Cone, Tom Cone; special nieces and nephews, Ron Hart, Curt Blum, Stephen Shaefer, Amy Cone, Mike Cone, Angie Walch, Barabra Hart, Bob Priebie Jr., Veronica, Kathleen, and Wanda Walch; and 2 special friends, Gary Bolar and Fin Fisher.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 6th, 2022, from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the Veterans Memorial Park, 700 VFW Drive, Prairie Du Sac, WI.
Our family would like to give a special thank you to the staff and Agrace, his home Agrace nurse Brittany, and Ginger Walch for the special care you provided Dick at the end of his life.
Dick, you will be deeply missed by many friends and family. You were the most wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, and grandparent. Heaven gained a special angel. Dick is hoping everyone will get their million dollars. We will "see you around like a doughnut".
