Patrick Oshannessy Moran, age 48, of Madison, passed away peacefully after his courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Agrace HospiceCare where he was surrounded by family and friends. Patrick was born in Madison, WI on April 25, 1970, the son of Eugene Moran and Deborah(Gene) Mahlum.
Patrick attended high school in Madison, WI and later in life attended Madison Area Technical College to further his career with Madison Kipp Corporation, where he 'retired' early due to his cancer. In addition to mechanics, he received his culinary degree. Patrick loved to cook and excelled at it, whether it was something simple or lavish. He would spend hours perfecting a recipe and leaving behind a mess.
Pat was the simplest complicated man. He could be brash but would always tell you like it is. He lived a full lifetime in the short years he blessed our lives. Pat had an energy an strength that was larger than life. This energy carried him thru his travels both near and far, gaining friends and knowledge which he hoped to pass on to his kids and grandkids. The importance of life, live it don't waste it.
As a child Patrick loved and acquired a deep appreciation for animals and the outdoors. The love continued, you could often find him biking, camping, boating or fishing. He loved sitting around a campfire, surrounded by friends and cooking the days catch. In addition to the outdoors and cooking he loved music, listening and playing. He taught himself to play both the acoustic and electric guitar and was in the process of writing. Patrick always said he was the music and I the lyrics, and together we made the perfect song.
Above all Patrick's loves and hobbies, first and foremost was his family. Regardless of his pain and exhaustion he looked forward to the days he spent working and talking with his kids at the garage or out fishing, creating new memories and sharing a special bond. There was nothing more wonderful and meaningful to him than spending the day with his kids and grandkids. Pat was a child at heart and will forever remain one. Luckily it made it easier for him to relate and play, either throwing a ball or out riding on the dirt bikes.
Patrick is survived by Rachel Barnes, his partner in life of many years, his sons Ryan(Becca) of Cottage Grove and their children Cameron, Carter, RJ and Rayli (born hours after Grandpa Pat's passing); Mitch(Heidi) of Evansville and his children Makyla and Morgan, Jayden of LaCrosse, Zachary of LaCrosse, Garrik and Devyn Stroud of Beaver Dam, Sam Last of LaCrosse, Alex Gennrich of LaCrosse and Jon Gennrich of LaCrosse, a wonderful ex-wife Kelly Kamrowski of LaCrosse. Siblings Michelle(Dwayne) Chase of Madison, Deborah(Mike) Schultz of Browntown, WI, Michael Moran(Shannon) of Charlotte, Colleen(Ian) Parsons of Madison, Jodi Nelson of Madison, Kathi Anderson Nelson of Pleasant Springs, Cammarie McCarthy of Madison. Parents Eugene Moran of Monona and Deborah Mahlum of Madison, and numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
Patrick was preceded in death by his step father Dennis McCarthy, his paternal Grandfather Eugene Moran Sr and maternal grandparents Elfred and Katherine Lewis.
I would like to extend a special thanks to Andrew Hart of San Francisco for making Patrick's last days and wishes a possibility. Without you he never would have made it to the stadium or the zoo. Thank you!
A celebration will be held in the future in Patrick's honor at a date and place yet to be determined.
I love you Pat, know you are missed and I will continue our song.
