Lowell Sherman Pethley, formerly of Inverness, Illinois, passed peacefully into eternity on November 29, 2022 at the age of 94.
Mr. Pethley was born in Tacoma, Washington on November 14th, 1928, to parents, Faye Maude (Newton) Driscoll and Sherman Pethley. The second of two children, Lowell's younger brother and great friend, Donald Rudolph, predeceased him in 2021. He married the love of his life, Agnes (Aggie) Lenore Hudgins; February 21st, 1953. Aggie predeceased Lowell in 2018. Mr. Pethley loved golf, travel, art, dining and music. He enjoyed visiting his children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lowell had a lifelong discerning interest in business and current affairs. Raised in difficult times, Lowell focused on his education, and obtained his Masters from the University of Washington. Joining Haskins & Sells as a CPA in Seattle, Lowell and family moved to San Francisco and then to Chicago in 1968. Lowell led Chicago's/Midwest Consulting Services for Deloitte Haskins & Sells until he retired in 1986. Lowell enjoyed retirement, focusing on golf and travel with his wife, Aggie. They traveled extensively internationally for many years. Lowell and Aggie are also remembered for their love of travel within the United States. They traveled by van between California, Florida and the Chicago suburbs every year, visiting old friends and relatives along the way.
Lowell had a keen sense of humor and an abiding love for his family. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his four children, Lynn, Curtis, Christopher and Suzanne; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lowell's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to those at Attic Angel in Middleton, Wi. for their tender care of Lowell and his wife, Aggie, for the last six years. Gratitude also extends to Agrace Hospice, for Lowell's care in the last months.
A Celebration of Life, will be held for Lowell and close family at Attic Angel, The Haven.
