Larry Myers

Larry Eugene Myers (1974) of Galesburg, IL died on May 28, following a cardiac arrest.  Larry was a Farm Bureau Insurance agent for 40 years.  He was involved in Masons, Ponies of America, community service, and was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada, IA.

Larry was an avid sports fan, following the Iowa State Cyclone teams.  He also enjoyed coaching and watching young family members compete.  Other interests were lake activities, golfing, hanging out with family and friends, and telling Ole, Lena, and Sven jokes.  Music continually enriched Larry’s life, whether playing in a band, singing in a choir, or just listening to his favorite tunes.

He is survived by his wife Trudy of Galesburg, IL; one daughter Leigh (Brett) Gregor of The Villages, FL; two step-daughters, Amber (Chad) Myers of Minier, IL and Hilary (Zack) McNeil of Olathe, KS; and three step-grandchildren Brandon Myers and Ava and Reese McNeil.  Larry had four surviving siblings; one brother Dennis (Nancy) Myers of Marshalltown, IA; Karen (Craig) Wilcox of Brooklyn, IA; Diane (Dave) Gibbs of The Villages, FL; and LuAnn (Dan) Volk of Grinnell, IA.  He was also an enthusiastic uncle to many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great niece and nephew.  Proceeding Larry in death were Ione (Tjelmeland) and Bill Myers, and a son Kevin. 

A celebration of life will be held August 11, 2023 at Holiday Lake Community Center from 4:00-9:00PM.
