Kerry Paul Cook passed away peacefully on Monday, Mar. 24, 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare after a long illness at the age of 67. He was born on December 20, 1946 to Gordon and Fern (Fingerson) Cook in Dodgeville, WI and grew up in the nearby town of Montfort, WI. He attended Iowa Grant High School and graduated in 1965. He moved to Madison with his first wife Carol in 1966, and there he attended UW-Madison studying Political Science. He worked his way through college doing a variety of different jobs as well as serving in the National Guard. In 1971 he was blessed with the birth of his son, Jason, and soon started what was to be a successful career at Pizza Pit, starting as a delivery driver and eventually becoming the Senior Vice President in charge of Franchising, opening stores in locations all over the states of Wisconsin and Iowa. While at Pizza Pit he worked to pioneer what was to become the Halloween Freakfest on State Street. Kerry was also president of the Madison Jaycees from 1978 to 1979. In December of 1985 he married his beloved wife Claudia, and was blessed with the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth, in 1986. Kerry enjoyed watching the Packers and Badgers, listening to the Brewers on the radio, and he was always up for a game of cards. He loved playing golf, working in his yard and was an avid birdwatcher who loved being outdoors in the summer heat. Kerry is survived by his son, Jason (Denice), grandson Austin, and daughter Elizabeth. He is also survived by his brother, Craig (Renata) Cook, and sisters Diane (Denny) Myers, Cathy (Mark) Dailey, and Lugene Cook Bartow, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Fern, as well as his loving wife, Claudia. A private ceremony will be held for the family on Friday, March 28th.
