Kennith A. Smith, Sr., age 88, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin died on December 2, 2013 at St. Mary's Care Center in Fitchburg. He was born in Davenport, Iowa on October 17, 1925, the son of Arthur and Alice Blanche (Collins) Smith. He grew up in Davenport, and after serving in the Navy married Gloria Mae Graham on August 10, 1946.
As a structural engineer, he worked for Stanley Consultants based in Muscatine, Iowa and for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District, before retiring to Florida. After his wife's death he moved to the Madison area. He was an active member of Lakeview Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
He is survived by his brother Arthur, and sisters Alice, Arlene, and Mary. He is also survived by his children, Kennith (Judy), James (Kathy), and Deborah, as well as grandchildren: Emily, Ethan, Jenny, Chris, Macy and Danielle, and great-grandchildren: Adrian and Vivian, as well as his beloved friend Pat Horvei.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 7 at Lakeview Lutheran, Pastor Dean Kirst presiding, with visitation for an hour before the service.
Memorials may be given to Lakeview Lutheran Church, The ELCA World Hunger Program or St. John's Lutheran Church.
