Kenneth L. Henkel

October 27, 1938 — June 20, 2015

Rev. Kenneth Henkel, born October 27, 1938, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 20, 2015. He was blessed with his loving wife of 57 years, Carol (Schmidt), 3 children, Cheryl (Jeff) Dorman, Laura (Dave) Mecum, and Mark (Dawn) Henkel; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He retired from the WI Air Guard in 1989 as a Sr. Master Sergeant having completed 33 years of service as an Avionics Section Chief. He was inducted into the WI Air Guard Hall of Fame in 1979. After retirement, he entered the ministry and became an ordained pastor in 1993. He spent many years ministering and serving to so many. He touched many lives. He also took up a hobby; he learned to play the concertina. He enjoyed playing for senior centers, nursing homes, schools and just jamming with friends. Because of his desire to share his love for the concertina, he was inducted into the World Concertina Congress Hall of Fame in 2010. He also enjoyed history, airplanes, and most importantly, spending time with his family.

A celebration of his life is planned for Monday June 29, 2015 at the VFW located at 5737 CTY TK CV in Madison starting at 1pm, with a memorial service starting at 2:30pm.
