WAUNAKEE - June Lorraine (Sorg) Sater passed away peacefully with her husband at her side on Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Peter and Ellen Johnson Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. June was born on June 15, 1932 in the Township of Troy and was the daughter of Howard and Viola (Sprecher) Sorg and grew up on the family farm, attended Harrisburg School and Sauk City High School. She married Robert E Sater on August 9, 1952 and together they raised three daughters in Madison, later moving to Waunakee. She retired from DOT, where she worked for 22 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, bird watching, bus trips to casinos, and loved watching the Packers, Brewers and the Badger games. The special lights in her life were her great-grandchildren, she loved them so much.
June is survived by her loving husband of close to 60 years, Robert E Sater, daughters Connie Femrite, Janet Boswell, and Cindy (Harvey) Johnson. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Lindsay, Marty, Stephanie, Leslie, Sarah, Michelle, Adam, and Dan, eight great-grandchildren (with a ninth on the way), a brother Calvin (Phyllis) Sorg, a sister Joyce (Wilfred) Gasser, and two sister-in-laws; Joyce Sorg, Dorothy Sorg and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers; John Sorg and Howard Fred Sorg.
A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, June 5, 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church, 701 S Century Ave in Waunakee with Pastor Karen Locken officiating, and a private internment at a later date. Per June's wishes, there will be no visitation.
Special thanks to Dr Ellen Hartenbach of UW Carbone Cancer Clinics, Dr. Barbara Stowe-Carpenter, and very special thanks to all the wonderful people at Agrace Hospice who were so kind to her. In lieu of flowers, a fund is being established for a memorial in her name.
