Ju ZHANG, age 87, passed away
on July 23, 2014 in Madison,
surrounded by her family. She
is survived by her husband
Pu Cai, son Jin-Yi, daughter-in-law
Gabriele, grandchildren Elisabeth,
Walter. She was from an intellectual
family. Her great grandfathers were
the 2nd and 3rd in Imperial Exams
in Qing Dynasty. Ju was 1st in
her class of Shanghai Jiaotong Univ.
But ill health prevented
her from achieving professionally.
Her life was tumultuous for
decades. Suffering from the
barbaric Japanese invasion, then
Mao's inhumane policies,
losing several family members.
Her lifetime devotion was to love
her husband, educate and care
for her son. She was
happy when he was appointed
Steenbock Professor.
She helped people around her
as much as she could,
and loved her grandchildren
deeply. When her health
permitted she enjoyed seeing
places. She will be greatly
missed and loved forever.
