John S. Cobb

June 14, 1939 — November 17, 2014

John S. Cobb, also known as " Disco Johnny", Husband, Dad and Grandpa, passed peacefully in his home Monday night Nov. 17th, with his wife holding his hand as they listened to soft "Jazz". What a touching end, to his new beginning.

John was 75 at his time of passing. In those 75 years he lived about 150. He graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1957, spent 4 years in the Navy serving on the USS Midway. When he returned home he played football at UW Madison then transferred and graduated from UW Stevens Point. John spent 37 years as a very successful salesman for Perry Printing. During his businesses travels he came to love New York City as a second hometown and would rule the dance floor any time New York, New York was played. Every occasion was a good occasion for dancing and entertaining friends. Crowned as "King of the Weber" by friends and family he loved to dance and entertain. For 31 years Disco Johnny was also the King of Sandra's heart; Dec 5th 1983 he married the one true love of his life, his beautiful wife Sandra Waxler. Together they had two sons, Joshua Randolph Cobb and John Patrick Cobb. John was very proud of both his boys; his face always lit up just hearing their names. John inherited three stepdaughters he considered his own; the youngest daughter, Tiffany, was a spunky 14 when he stepped into the role and responsibility of daily fathering.

The last 5 years of John's life he was humbled with challenging health issues. With his humbled heart, he trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Because of this, his family knows, that this is not the end of John's life but his new beginning. John was loved very much by his family and all of his family made special efforts to be with him in the end.

John was born on Flag Day and was very patriotic! He loved this country and was especially proud of his time in the Navy where he played trumpet in the Navy Band. He will receive full military honors at his funeral.
