John Collins Grove

John Collins Grove, 75, of Lake Mills passed away on February 4, 2019. John was born on December 27, 1943 to Maud and John Grove in Berwyn, IL. He was the brother to 3 sisters - Mary, Martha, & Sarah who kept him on his toes.
At the age of 21 he enlisted in the army and was accepted into the photography program. He served as a combat photographer in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. Following his military service, he took additional courses and became employed by the Media Department at Morton College in Cicero, IL. Later he was employed by Sears for 19 years.
John contributed greatly to the Ronald McDonald House by donating all of his tabs from his favorite drink Diet Pepsi.
John wasn't a man of many words, but he was much loved for his gentle and kind nature.
Many Christmases ago, John gave each of his sisters a CD by one of his favorite singers, Sarah Brightman. During his final days, it was played for him often. The name of the CD: "time to say goodbye".
John is survived by sister Martha Grove (Bob Mueller) of Webster Groves, MO, sister Sarah Heussner (David Oemig) of Lake Mills, WI, nephew Rob (Wendy) Heussner and their children Helen, Robbie, Allie, & Brooke of Portland, OR, niece Emily Heussner of Fort Atkinson, WI, nephew Josh Heussner of Fruitland, ID, brother-in-law Clyde (Donna) Blanke of Orland Park, army buddies Bob Heussner and Henry Bassman and good friends Steve Strutz, Neno Bartocci & Ruthie Hernandez.
John was preceded in death by his parents Maud & John Grove and sister Mary Blanke.
A memorial service for John will be held at a later date.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers at Brooke Gardens in Lake MIlls, WI, Heartland Hospice Care and the Home-Based Primary Care Team at the VA Hospital for their loving care of John.
