Joan Elizabeth Workman

Madison - Joan Elizabeth Workman, age 77, passed away on July 8, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 29, 1937 to Lyman and Clare (O'Neil) Buchanan. Joan graduated from Madison Central High School in 1956. She then went to secretary school in Milwaukee. She was united in marriage to Ronald L. Workman in June of 1959. Joan had a long career with the State of Wisconsin and retired early to be the caregiver for her sister Sharon and her mother Clare until their passing.

Joan is survived by her children, Rhonda, Mary, Lyndia (Leon) Klinkenberg and David; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, her sister, Gail Zwergel and her brother, James Buchanan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Sharon Ponsolle and Linda Burns.
Joan loved being with family, caring for her dogs, feeding and watching birds in the back yard. She enjoyed reading, music, dancing and getting her hair and nails done. Joan will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A time to gather will be held for friends and family on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at OLBRICH BIOTANICAL GARDENS ATRIUM, 3330 Atwood Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin 53704 from 12 Noon until 2:00 pm. Food and refreshments will be provided.
