Joan Ann Blom

Madison - Joan A. (Meehan) Blom, age 79, died on Friday, February 21, 2014 while at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.

Joan was born on October 29, 1934 in Madison, WI, the daughter of Jack and Devota (Castle) Meehan. After graduating from Edgewood High School, Joan attended Lakeland School of Art in Milwaukee. Joan married William "Bill" Blom, Jr. on November 9, 1954.

Joan worked for over 15 years for MATC Madison as an art instructor and was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. She enjoyed painting in water colors, pen and ink, oils and rosemaling. Joan also enjoyed reading, traveling, taking painting classes and spending time with her family and friends.

Joan is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill Blom Jr. of Madison; three children, Nancy Rasmussen of Madison, Bill Blom III of Valdez, Alaska and Jennifer Blom (Mark Anderson) of Dane, WI; 2 grandchildren, Erin (Andy) Anderson and Matt Rasmussen (Jessica) and 4 great grandchildren, Ryan, Hayden, Emily and Kaitlyn.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Betty and her brother, John.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 5313 Flad Avenue, Madison WI on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM Father Mark Miller will celebrate. A visitation will also be held at the church one hour prior to the time of Mass.
