Jennifer Mccann Bahr

September 30, 1974 — December 11, 2020

On 12/11/2020, the tide went out on Jen's life, but not before she touched as many lives as there are grains of sand on the beach. Jennifer McCann Bahr, age 46, of Monona, Wisconsin passed away surrounded by those who loved her after a valiant battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Jennifer, aka "Jenny", "Jen" or "McCann" was born in McHenry, Illinois on September 30, 1974. Jen was the amazing mother of Rylan Bahr and the daughter of Pam and Tim Carrico and Bob McCann.
Jen graduated from Oregon High School in 1992 in Oregon, WI. She went on to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where she received her bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders, continuing her schooling at Edgewood College in Madison, WI where she obtained her Master's in Education. Jen took her passion for putting people first and love of education and turned it into a career at Madison College where she prepared thousands of students for education excellence.
In addition to her son Rylan and her parents, Jen is survived by her brothers and sisters, Jason (Jocelyn) McCann, Amy (Tony) Hopkins, Adam (Nikki) Carrico, Raychel (Brent) Stella, and Lisa (Jessie) VanOuse as well as her nieces and nephews Brody, Finn, Isla; Greyson, Harper; Evan, Landon; Tori, Josie; whom she adored. She will be greatly missed by her former spouse, Steve Bahr, her loyal fur-baby, Sunny, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends that are too numerous to name. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and by her nephew, Wyatt.
It took but one step into Jen's house to know what meant most to her: the beach, her friends, her family and more than anything else, her son Rylan. Rylan was her reason for being, and she dedicated her life to being his mother. Her smile and spirit will live on through him and her legacy will forever be the amazing young man he has become.
Sitting next to Jen gave you that incredible feeling of the warm sun on your face. Being on the receiving end of that contagious smile felt comforting, like your favorite pair of flip flops. Her love of beach life radiated in her sunny disposition and chill attitude. Her hugs were powerful and meaningful, filling your heart with "I love you's" so that not even a word needed to be spoken, however, she also never hesitated to tell you her feelings, whether you liked what she had to say or not. Backyard lawn chairs, fire pits, sandy beaches, sunsets, basketball bleachers, dog walks - all were precious places and moments dear to this intelligent beauty.
Jen was energized by positive souls and all the amazing love and laughter she received and shared with those around her. Jen was a warrior who accepted an unimaginable fight with grace and strength. This courageous mother, inspiring daughter, supportive sister and incredible friend reminds us all never to underestimate the power within ourselves.
At Jen's request, there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date. The celebration will of course be beach themed, in which her favorite attire of flip flops will be worn in her honor.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been set up in Jen's name. Memorial donations may be made payable to the "Jennifer McCann Bahr Memorial Fund" and be sent in care of Amy Hopkins, 551 Kettle Woods Court, Pewaukee, WI 53072.
Some days we must find our calm, forget our worries, and stick our toes in the sand. Other days, when we need to fight, don't be afraid to make a wave, and be the storm. To sum it up in true Jen fashion, - Peace, Love and Flip Flops.
