MADISON - Jeffrey A. Wilhelmi, age 67, of Madison, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 28, 1948 in Racine, WI, the son of Helen and John Wilhelmi. He married Kristine Ebert on October 2, 1970 in Burlington, WI.
Jeffrey graduated from St. Catherine's High School in Racine. He attended U.W. Whitewater before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1968 - 1972. For 38 years Jeffrey served his community as a police officer for the Town of Burlington and the City of Sun Prairie. He was a proud member of the Burlington Rescue Squad.
An avid sports fan, Jeffrey enjoyed playing golf, as well as watching the Packers, Badgers, Cubs, and any teams coached by his son, James. In his retirement Jeffrey kept busy with his beloved grandchildren.
Mr. Wilhelmi is survived by his loving wife of over 45 years, Kristine; his children, James of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Tara of Madison, WI; grandchildren: Taran, Tiasia, Tiana, Tara jr., and Andres; Sister, Lillian Dougard of Racine, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Rodgers; brother, Alvin; sisters, Joan Gottfredsen and Patricia Wilhelmi; as well as numerous in-laws.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, February 21st, 2016 at the VFW Post 9362, 349 S. Walker Way, Sun Prairie, WI. Inurnment will be held this spring at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C. with Military Rites accorded. "Well done, good and faithful servant."
