Igor Vladislavovich Boronenkov, known as "Boroda" to his many friends, passed away on December 27, 2013 at Meriter Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on April 14, 1968 in Kuibyshev, USSR to Vladislav N. Boronenkov and Svetlana A. Boronenkova. He was a proud veteran of the Russian Army. After completing his military service, Igor graduated with high honors from Moscow State University with a degree in Chemistry. His academic excellence and passion for science won him a fellowship to continue his studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and worked as a researcher in the field of molecular genetics.
In 2007 he met Taisia, who brought him much happiness. Together they had a daughter Lana (born July 16, 2013). Boroda was a great friend to many people in the Russian community of Madison and beyond. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, his gift for friendship and great sense of humor, his intelligence and love of music, and the large birthday parties he hosted at the Lakeview Park Shelter in Middleton. He will be deeply missed by his family, many friends and the Russian community as a whole, also by his friends from both Madison Taxi and Choles Floral of Madison. He is survived by his mother Svetlana and his brother Yuri of Ekaturinburg, Russia; his son Sasha Sneyd of Wellington, New Zealand; his beloved soul mate Taisia and their infant daughter Lana.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 10 at 1PM at Informed Choice Funeral Services, 3325 E. Washington Ave, Madison. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 12:00 PM.
