Ida Hillman

March 25, 1927 — December 8, 2013

Black Earth - Ida Hillman age 86, departed this life on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Heartland Country Village. Ida was born to Robert and Mary (Juell) Barton on March 25, 1927 in Luton, IA. She lived most of her life in Wisconsin where she raised her children and enjoyed time with family, especially her sister Pearl. Ida married the love of her life, Leroy Hillman, December 17, 1983. They enjoyed time together living on Twin Lake out of Spooner and later moved to Las Vegas, NV where Ida loved the warm weather, the casino buffets and playing bingo.
Ida was energetic and always on the go! She enjoyed life in so many ways. Ida loved her family and cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always involved in their lives and quick to brag about them. Her employment included running a sandwich shop in a state building in Madison, operating a clothing shop in Boston, working as a waitress and various other jobs that allowed her the people contact she wanted. Her fun loving nature and caring ways were evident in her quickness to join friends for an afternoon of fun, help a neighbor in need and get involved in her church's auxiliary committee. Having a church home and a friendship with her pastors was an important part of life for Ida. She will be greatly missed by her family and remembered most for the silly smirk and the twinkle she would get in her eye as she giggled whenever we were together.
Survivors include her children: Mary Lou (Ron) Bowers, Barb (Dave)Daane, Jay Grimm (fiancée Jean Serum), Rick (Ann) Newell, step children: Kathy (Dick) Tubb, Susan Hillman, Karen Hillman, David Hillman, sister, Pearl Andrea; 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Ida was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Percy Grimm, Alfred Newell, and Leroy Hillman, granddaughter Tina Daane, brothers Clifford and Ronald, brother-in-law Ralph Andrea.
Funeral services will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 300 Broadway Dr, Sun Prairie at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 19, with Pastor Steve Vera presiding. A fellowship gathering will be held at the church at 10:00 am until the time of the service. A luncheon at the church will follow the service.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Heartland Country Village and Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to our mom.
