Guerrino Amati, a longtime resident of Crete, was born in Detroit on April 1st 1930, the son of Ferrucio Amati and Mary Krpan. Mr. Amati earned his BA in English from Wayne State University while working in the Hudson automotive factory. After a stint in the US Army, he earned his MA from the University of Chicago. He served for a while as an Associate Editor for Popular Mechanics magazine before finding his vocation as a teacher of English at City Colleges of Chicago. Retiring after 36 years, he spent his later years focused on his writing. He is the author of many science fiction short stories and novels including Ammon's Horn and Boundary Conditions.
Mr. Amati is survived by his wife Jacqueline, and his children Ann, Christopher , Matthew, Joshua and Katherine, and his granddaughter Emmeline. Donations and gifts in Guerrino Amati's name may be made to the Crete Public Library.
