Madison - Erik V. Werner, age 58, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare Center.
He was born on January 16, 1956 in Grandview, Iowa. He was the son of Neale and Laura (McCray) Werner and grew up in Madison and was a lifetime resident.
Erik graduated from Madison West High School in 1974. He was employed by the State for the University of Wisconsin (most recently at the State Lab of Hygiene), where he worked for over 37 years until his retirement in 2012.
Erik enjoyed boating, fishing, his pets, his music, his beautifully landscaped yard and especially his passion for antiques. The Antique Shop in Sauk City was a great source of joy for him.
Erik was a devoted husband, father and brother to his five siblings! Erik is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cheri of Madison; a daughter, Sarah (Rick) Stenland of Nevada; a step-daughter, Lindsay (Mark) De Lao of Madison; his siblings, Chris (Danny) Frazier of Arkansas, Lisa Stearns of Alabama, Tony (Val) Werner of Florida, Tim Werner of Wisconsin and Nick Werner of Wiconsin; 3 step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Erik was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Peter and Paul.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Informed Choice Funeral Services, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison WI. A visitation will also be held prior at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Cremation rites will be accorded.
The family would like to thank Agrace for their loving care of Erik in the last few months of Erik's life.
