Donna J. Peterson

Donna Joan (Kieffer) Peterson passed on October 25th, 2020 at UW hospital after battling Esophageal Cancer for the past eight months.

Born in Olivia, MN, Donna was the youngest and last surviving of 5 children to Marie and Joe Kieffer. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Oscar Curtis Peterson of Sun Prairie and three adult children Ben Peterson, Sam Peterson, and Sarah (Peterson) Yanke. She was known as 'Grandma Donna' to Sabrina and Lizzy Yanke, Ethan and Joni Peterson, and Ciara, Leela, and Adlai Peterson.

Donna graduated with a minor in Elementary Education and Science from MN State-Mankato and a master's from UW-La Crosse. In 1979, she moved to Lodi, WI where she was a teacher and friend to thousands of students over 30 years before retiring in 2009. Reading was her favorite subject, and she inspired several of her students to appreciate reading to this day. She was a very generous person, giving her time and wealth to her kid's scout troops, various school districts, local churches and many other local organizations. She also had the privilege to go on a church mission for outreach in Guatemala.

After retiring and moving to Sun Prairie, WI, she had even more time to spend giving to others and joining clubs such as the Colonial Club Choir. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family and friends. You could say she was an "Ace" at the game of Euchre. Often you could find her at one of her grandkids school or sporting events. Donna was a very adventurous person and loved to take trips both around the world and road trips to enjoy sights and scenery across the country. In her free time, she enjoyed sharing her passion of healthy learning and living with Shaklee.

Donna was an active member of City Church in Madison, WI. She lives on through her family and friends.
