Danny Lynn Parker

September 26, 1955 — January 3, 2017

Danny Lynn Parker, 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the VA Hospice Care Center on Monday, January 3, 2017, in Madison, Wisconsin.

Dan was born September 26, 1955, to David and Elaine (Polkinghorn) Parker in Madison, Wisconsin.
Dan is survived by his daughter Dani Parker (Tony Dunham) of Sun Prairie and son Michael Parker of Sun Prairie; and 6 grandchildren Cassie, Paige, Carson, TJ, Michael, and Elaine "girl"; and 4 siblings David (Susana) Parker, Sharon Coenen, Sharrie (Randy) Nechvatal and Dale (Lisa) Parker.

Dan grew up in the Marquette-Williamson St neighborhood when it was still a "blue collar" neighborhood and went to Marquette grade school and Madison East High School. He served in the United States Navy for two years of active service, aboard a destroyer in the Mediterranean Sea from 1973 till 1975 and then in the reserves for another four years. After service, he returned to Madison and was a mechanic for the Madison Badger Cab company until injuries caused an early retirement. He also enjoyed bartending at Town Pump and Union Corner; playing Euchre and Cribbage and was an avid Badger and Packer fan.

On June 20, 1981 he married Fran Norman in Madison, Wisconsin and they have a daughter Dani and a son Michael Parker.

Dan had an easy going nature and was always there when you needed a helping hand, a devoted father and proud of his children and grandchildren and after retirement spent most of his time with them. Dan will be missed by his friends and extremely close knit loving family unit.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice in Dan's name.
