Daniel Kevin Stanton, 62, of Sun Prairie entered into Eternal Life surrounded by his family on Friday, February 3, 2017. He was born October 27, 1954 to William and Marlys (nee Lawrence) Stanton in Evanston, IL. He married Kim Meurette on October 2, 2005 in Wausau, WI. Dan graduated from Barrington High School, Barrington, IL. He went on to graduate from Eastern Illinois (Charleston, IL) with a Bachelor's of Liberal Arts in Communications. He spent many years working for Motorola in Schaumburg and most recently worked for Covance Laboratories, Madison, WI as a Project Manager. Dan had a passion for the outdoors, traveling, and enjoyed serving others. He participation in GRIP, a program that mentors inner city kids in Chicago, he helped build houses with Habitat for Humanity, was a board member of Retrouvaille, a marriage ministry, and served as a barista at Door Creek Church. He completed "Ride the Rockies," a 404 mile bike trip with his brother, Jeff. Other adventures included: skiing various mountain ranges, hiking in numerous state parks across the United States, and celebrating a decade of marriage with Kim, on a three week sailing trip around the Greek Islands and touring through Italy. Dan also enjoyed browsing boutique shops with his wife, decorating and landscaping their home, and had a passion for both World and American History. Survivors include: His wife, Kim, Sun Prairie; Parents, William and Marlys Stanton, Schaumburg, IL; Stepdaughters Becky (Mike) Caron, Sun Prairie, and Rene (Casey) Mathura, Oregon, WI; Grandchildren, Caleb Mathura, Andrew (AJ) Pasnecker, Nicholas Mathura, Angelina Mathura, Patience (Olivia) Caron, Isabella Mathura, Sadie Caron, Tirzah Caron, Avin Mathura, Simon Caron, and Asher Mathura; Brother, Jeff (Julie) Stanton, Phoenix, AZ; Brother, John Stanton, Lakeville, MN; Sister, Terri (Rob) Pienkowski, Elgin, IL; Nephews, Ryan and Kyle Stanton; Nieces, Hannah and Nadine Pienkowski; and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at Door Creek Church, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison. Service to follow at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an account at US Bank bearing Dan's name designated for Family Research Council and American Brain Foundation.
