ARENA/MAZOMANIE/BELLEVILLE - Carol Jean (Richardson-Crook) Cockroft, of Belleville, WI, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Agrace HospiceCare on August 16, 2016 from complications related to cancer. Carol was born on April 24, 1950 in Dodgeville, WI to Owen and Mary Margaret Richardson. She grew up in Arena Township, WI and lived for many years in Mazomanie. She graduated from Wisconsin Heights School in 1968 and was also a graduate of Madison Area Technical College in Madison, WI.
Carol was a warm-hearted spitfire, loved by many, and seemed to always know people wherever she might be. If she didn't know anyone, she would inevitably make a new friend. Carol had a wonderful sense of humor, and cracked jokes until she was physically unable to speak. She loved to travel with her husband, Bernard "Sonny", watch any kind of car races, cheer enthusiastically for her favorite teams: The Badgers, Brewers and Packers, and to visit with family and friends. She was always happy to help someone in need.
Carol is survived by her husband, Bernard "Sonny" Cockroft; her son, Michael (Lydia) Crook; daughters, Kara (Steve) Cisneros and Keely Crook; grandchildren, Gianna, Ariana, Nadia, Chloe, and Adalynn; step-daughters, Tracy, April, Heather, and Danielle; step-grandchildren, Austin, Daycia, Wiley, Lucas, Allie and Miles; and her brother, Wayne Richardson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Aunt Ruth Pulvermacher.
Carol's family would like to thank Dr. LoConte and the Chemo Therapy team at the U.W. Hospital, as well as the staff at Agrace HospiceCare for the compassionate care they extended to Carol.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Grandma Mary's Café, 216 US-14, Arena, WI. Casual attire is requested.
