Madison--Carol Fite Mothershead died at home on March 8, 2022, after several years of Alzheimer's disease. Born on February 4, 1947, in Fort Worth Texas; she was the daughter of Col. Calvin Ward Fite and Ramona Spurlock Fite. Since her dad was a career officer in the U.S. Air Force, Carol's family moved frequently and she lived in several states as well as spending a few years in England. Carol married Larry Mothershead in 1968 following their days as high school sweethearts.
Carol was a great mom to her children, Christian and Kyle. She read to them on a regular basis and got both boys interested in reading and learning. In addition, she was a volunteer at many school functions. Her work with the children was rewarded by Christian becoming a teacher and Kyle a lawyer.
Carol always worked and held positions as staff member for a U.S. senator in Washington D.C. on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C., and as a crackerjack Tupperware Dealer. She went back to college at UW-Madison and graduated with a B.S. in Journalism at the age of 42. She was hired by the state of Wisconsin and retired in 2012 as Information Technology Manager, a job with lots of responsibility and a steep learning curve.
Carol loved to travel and managed to visit quite a few countries including England, India, Botswana, Cambodia, Ireland, Argentina, Panama, Cambodia, Ireland and others. She was quite a movie buff and loved seeing the current popular movie, especially those that received awards. Later in life she took up ballroom dancing and enjoyed dancing with friends as well as dance competitions. She won some trophies for her dancing and her favorite dance was the Tango. Carol and Larry danced their last solo dance to their wedding song, "The Look of Love".
