MADISON - Benjamin T. Blum, age 92, of Madison, WI, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at UW Hospital due to injuries from an automobile accident. He was with three of his buddies going to do what he loved - golf.
Ben was born on November 3, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN to Harry and Aimee Blum. His family moved to Madison, WI in 1928 when Ben was five. He graduated from Wisconsin High School in 1941. Ben was a WW II veteran of the Army Air Corps., serving from 1943 - 1946.
On May 19, 1946 Ben married his bride of 70 years, Evelyn Tomchak in Chicago, IL.
He was the owner of Blum's Trophies and Engraving on State Street for many years. Ben was a Madison Jaycee and a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where he was an active volunteer at many church activities and functions.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; daughters Susan D. (George) Brooks of Sarasota, FL, and Peggy Blum Brigham of Pardeevlle, WI; and granddaughter Erin (Jay) Lettau of Neenah, WI.
Ben was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Harris.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Friday, September 16, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Rd., Madison, WI. Friends and family may call from 10 am until time of service.
