Barbara Ann Anderson

January 1, 1926 — February 15, 2022

Barbara Ann Anderson, age 96, of Sun Prairie, WI, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Tall Grass Senior Living. She was born on January 1, 1926, on a train on the way to London, England. She was the daughter of Annie and Joseph Barnett. She married Carl George Anderson on October 13, 1945 in Debden, England.
Barbara was the youngest of nine children and loved to tell stories of growing up in a thatched roof cottage in the countryside of England. As a child she won a scholarship to attend the Friends School where she completed her education during WWII. She worked at the train station in Saffron Walden during the war where she met George who was stationed at Debden Airfield. They married in England in October of 1945, and she traveled on the SS Holbrook to New York and then by train to join him in Chicago after his tour was up. A son, Roger, was born in 1949 and a daughter, Holly, in 1954. In 1963, Barbara and George built a home in Geneva, IL and were blessed with daughter, Lynn, in 1968. Barbara worked for many years as the staff cafeteria manager at Mooseheart, IL. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of American Legion Post 75 where she enjoyed making lasting friendships. After almost 65 years of marriage, George passed away in 2010 and she lived her last 12 years in Gibsonia, PA and Sun Prairie, WI to be near her daughters and receive care. Barbara was an avid reader but most of all she loved to laugh with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Roger (Susan) Anderson, Holly (Colleen) Anderson, and Lynn (Scott) West; grandchildren, Jennifer Cellarius (Jeremy), Michael Anderson (Danelle), Benjamin Hartschuh (Ida), Hailey West and Matthew West; great-grandchildren, Aidan Cellarius, Ethan Cellarius, Annaliese Anderson, and Whitney Anderson. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents; siblings, Ted, Jack, Beatrice, Frank, Charles, Bert, Fred, and Winifred.
There will be a private service and burial at Oak Cemetery in Geneva at a later date.
