Alvin Fred Bloedow

Alvin Fred Bloedow, age 80, passed away on October 17, 2024, at Badger Prairie Health Care Center in Verona, Wisconsin. Born on July 3, 1944, to Gustav and Lillian Bloedow. Alvin graduated from Ithaca High School and dedicatedly served in the Air Force as a Chinese linguist during the Viet Nam war from 1962 to 1966. After his military service, he had a fulfilling career at Madison Kipp Corporation from which he retired.

Alvin was a man of the outdoors, with a passion for fishing, flowers and gardening, and mushroom hunting. His love for nature was evident to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Marcia (Marti) of Madison, WI, daughters, Tammy (Jim) Swagel of Elroy, WI, Kristi (Keith) Owings of Montpelier, ID, Brenda (Ciaran Kelly) Mich of Madison, and Tina (Marshall) Iverson of Portage; his grandchildren, Nikki (Zach) Hilliard, Jessie Swagel, Keifer Owings, Jordan Mich, and Declan Kelly; his great granddaughter, Lexi Hilliard; his siblings, Erna (Richard) Tourdot, Richard (Carolyn) Bloedow, and Darwin (Paulette) Bloedow; sister-in-law, Pat Bloedow.  Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Lillian Bloedow, and his brother, Earl Bloedow.

Alvin's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his love for the natural world. His legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at VA Hospital Madison WI, Badger Prairie Health Care Center Verona WI and Agrace Hospice Care Fitchburg WI for the compassionate care and kindness given to Al and his family. 

 Celebration of Life will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church, 2951 Chapel Valley Rd Fitchburg WI on November 9, 2024, 11:00 - 3:00.
