Allan "Al" Paul Akelaitis

SUN PRAIRIE - Allan "Al" P. Akelaitis, age 72, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, September 17, 2016. He was born September 25, 1943 in Mount Carmel, PA to the late Leonard and Ruth Akelaitis. Allan drove a semi for over two decades until he went back to school to become an auto mechanic. He had a passion for working on cars and helping others. For the last 16 years he worked for Capitol Newspapers as a newspaper carrier in Cottage Grove.
Every birthday and holiday when asked by his kids what he wanted he said "a Harley". His kids bought him Harley Davidson trinkets over the years. In 2002 Al's dream was fulfilled. He spent every year since then riding a Harley. When his daughter got a Harley in 2004, he was the happiest man. He loved riding with family and friends.
Al was known for his quirky personality that left a stamp on everyone he met. he would give the shirt off his back to help anyone.
Survivors include 4 children: Clara Thomas, Deakon Thomas (Heather), Areal (Adam) Guenther, and Felicia Akelaitis; his ex-wife, Janet Jenkins (Steve); 5 grandchildren, whom he adored: Paisley, Teagan, Kyla, Axel, & Archer; as well other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Jr.
