Aileen Mary Pinto passed into the Lord's care on March 19, 2015 at age 96. She was born on January 2, 1919 in Mangalore, India. Her parents were Victor and Agnes (Albuquerque) Saldanha. She had seven sisters, Enid, Laura, Lou, Lydia, Celine, Therese and Marjorie and one brother Ronald. She was a trailblazer in her time, being one of the first women to graduate from college and then teach. She married Basil Pinto and had five children, Eustace (Jacqueline), Yolande (Edward Wersching) John (Carolyn) Francis (Donna who is deceased) and Dominic (Susanne). Her grandchildren are Jayant (Neethi) of Chicago, Illinois, Ashok (Preeya) of Washington, D.C. Susanna of Washington D.C. Nicholas of Hesperia, California and Lisa of Hesperia, California. Her great grandchildren are Emmanuelle, Noelle Isabelle and Zachary of Chicago, Illinois and Seraphina of Washington D.C. She was a kind, thoughtful person. Everyone was always welcome at her home anytime. She was always fun to be around and ready for any adventure. She was everyone's favorite and a favorite aunt, loved and cherished by her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and by her sisters, Enid and Laura and by her sister-in law, Shantha. She is also survived by all her children.
Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, March 28, 2015. Visitation will be at 10:30 AM, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Her ashes will be taken back to India and interred with her husband, according to her wishes.
