Adella Abbott

VERONA - After a long, wonderful life filled with family, friends, gardening, boating, skiing and enjoying her home on the Wolf River, Adella Schenk Abbott passed away on November 12, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare in Madison, WI.

Adella graduated from Shawano High School, the Wisconsin School of Cosmetology in Green Bay and owned Les Femmes Beauty Salon in Shawano. She was a life member of the Wisconsin Optometric Association Auxiliary, Shawano Historical Society and Shawano Medical Center Auxiliary. Her involvement in the First Presbyterian Church of Shawano included being elder and president of their Women's Organization. She also was a tutor for the Shawano Literary Council before spending the final years in and near Madison.

On July 27, 1940 she married Dr. Augustus N. Abbott, OD who preceded her in death. Through the years she enjoyed her growing family and their families. Survivors include her daughters, Winifred (Kurt) Stubenvoll, Bonnie Abbott Grosnick (James Smith); son, Wilson N. Abbott (Caroline Davis) along with 9 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Agrace Foundation, by phone at 608-327-7180, and online by visiting agrace.org/donate; or, to the Shawano First Presbyterian Church, 100 Presbyterian St., Shawano, WI 54166. A memorial gathering is planned for next summer.
